Key information on the Graduate Nursing Program
Are you passionate about nursing? Then this is the graduate program for you.
ACCV has partnered with Monash University to develop and deliver a 12 month graduate program for registered nurses funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. This innovative program is aimed at supporting and mentoring nurses through their transition from student nurse to graduate nurse.
Aged Care will appeal to you if you are looking for a career that is complex, challenging, and person centred; giving you the opportunity to develop good relationships with clients and their families and cultivate a teamwork approach with your peers and other health professionals. It also offers the opportunity for leadership and influence in the field of Aged Care.
The graduate will have access to preceptors; the first aged care aged care specialist placement supervisors and the support of Monash University to ensure they receive the best education and support available and to ensure the delivery of the highest quality aged care graduate nurse program in Victoria.
Our innovative education program involves 7 weeks of education spread out over 12 months and includes study days, accreditation and leadership courses and an array of quality clinical practice skills that are paramount to working effectively in aged care. This program is focused on making you become the best aged care nurse you want to be. With the ability to rotate throughout various aged care areas, this allows the graduate to have exposure to all different types of nursing including high care, low care, palliative care, dementia specific care, and in some instances, community care.
In order for the graduate to feel supported and confident, other registered nurses and aged care specialist graduate placement supervisors will work with you to ensure you are appropriately supported. You will be trained right from the beginning on how to properly assess clients, manage a moderate workload and formulate therapeutic relationships using person centred care.
After twelve months you will be able to decide whether aged care is for you or not for you. But with the amount of positive support and education you receive over the 12 months we know you’ll just love it.
This is a new and exciting adventure commencing in late February 2013 so apply now and be a part of industry change.
Get excited and apply now because there are only 40 positions available and if you are passionate about Aged Care we would love to hear from you.
