The Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) was introduced on 20th March 2008. It replaced the Resident Classification Scheme (RCS) as the appraisal tool for resident subsidies. The ACFI consists of a funding instrument and a funding model and is designed to capture only those care elements that best distinguish the costs of care.
