Supported Residential Services Training

Aged & Community Care Victoria - Partnership in Training with Department of Human Services for Supported Residential Services

ACCV has taken over the role of coordinating the SRS Training Program for proprietors and staff.

More than 6000 residents live in supported residential services (SRS) across Victoria. There are currently 185 SRS registered with the Department of Human Services (as at May 2008).

SRS provide accommodation for people who require care and support in everyday life, for example, people who are frail, aged or who have a disability.

SRS are private businesses and generally do not receive government funding. SRS must be registered with the Department of Human Services and are monitored to ensure they provide certain standards of care and accommodation.

SRS vary in the services they provide, the people they accommodate and the fees they charge.

For further information about SRS please visit www.health.vic.gov.au/srs.

ACCV will be coordinating a total of seven training workshops from July 2008 to December 2008 in three convenient locations across Melbourne

Workshops aim to provide SRS proprietors and staff with the skills and knowledge to assist and improve the safety and quality of services provided to residents.

Training module topics include:

SRS Training is only available to proprietors and staff of SRS service and in most cases there is a maximum of two staff members per service per workshop.

The training is free of charge for SRS proprietors and staff.

To register for a training workshop or to make an inquiry please contact Tanja Capic, Training Administration Officer, tanjac@accv.com.au or call (03) 9805 9400.

The workshops comprise six one-day sessions spread out over a six-week period and are free of charge. It is important to note that attendance at all six sessions is essential to gain maximum value from the training.
